About

Wildcat Mountain State Park Group Campground sits on a ridge rising steeply above the Kickapoo River in Vernon County, Wisconsin. The campground offers three reservable group sites designed for tent camping, with Sites 1 and 2 accommodating up to 25 people each, and Site 3 holding up to 50. Each site features picnic tables and fire rings, with a shared shelter house and vault toilets serving the area. The group camping area is located approximately half a mile east of the nature center and maintenance building. Water must be obtained from the shower building, park maintenance building, or a portable water tank stationed in the group camp. Firewood is available for purchase, though campers should note that moving firewood from outside the area is restricted due to tree pest and disease concerns. The surrounding park offers 21 miles of hiking, nature, and equestrian trails, along with an observation point overlooking the Kickapoo Valley and designated night sky viewing areas. The nearby village of Ontario provides canoe and kayak rentals for paddling the Kickapoo River. Reservations are made through the Wisconsin State Parks reservation system.
