About

Pigeon Creek Campground is a small, primitive tent camping destination located approximately 20 miles east of Butte, Montana in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. Situated on the eastern side of the Highland Mountain Range, the campground provides access to Pigeon Creek for stream fishing opportunities. The campground consists of 6 tent-only sites and is free to use with no reservations required. Facilities are minimal, with a vault toilet provided but no potable water available. Campers must bring their own drinking water and be prepared for primitive conditions. Food storage requirements are in effect. Access is via Forest Service Road 668 (Fish Creek Road), a gravel road that is steep and narrow with sharp turns. While passable by passenger vehicles, the road is not suitable for trailers or large vehicles. The campground is typically open from Memorial Day through mid-September, weather dependent, with a 16-day stay limit.

Directions

From Butte, take MT Highway 2 for approximately 15 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 668 (Fish Creek Road) and continue for approximately 5 miles. The campground will be on the left. The gravel road is passable by passenger vehicles but trailers are not recommended due to narrow, steep sections with sharp turns.
