Nestled in the rolling hills of western Kentucky near Dawson Springs, Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park campground sits at the edge of dense forest, deliberately positioned out of view from other park facilities for a secluded camping experience. The 63-site campground accommodates diverse camping styles: 20 primitive non-electric sites for tent campers, 10 standard electric sites, 25 full-service sites with electric/water/sewer hookups, and 8 pull-through equestrian sites designed for horse owners with hitching posts for up to four horses and direct trail access. The adjacent Pennyrile State Forest provides over 40 miles of horse trails, with a 1.25-mile connector trail leading directly from the equestrian campground. Beyond camping, the park centers around a 56-acre lake offering fishing, pedal boat, and rowboat rentals. An 18-hole golf course, hiking trails, tennis and basketball courts, and a lodge with a 200-seat dining room round out the amenities. Equipment lengths up to 62 feet can be accommodated depending on site selection.
