About
Linton Recreation Area is a day-use facility located on the shores of Lake Barkley in southwestern Kentucky, near the border with Tennessee. Nestled among wooded rolling hills with abundant wildlife, the recreation area provides an excellent setting for family gatherings and group events with its accessible picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 100 guests and 50 vehicles. The facility offers a range of amenities including flush toilets, a playground, grills, and a designated sandy swimming beach. Lake Barkley's 57,900 acres and 1,004 miles of shoreline provide ample opportunities for boating and fishing, while the grassy open fields are perfect for soccer, Frisbee, and other outdoor activities. The lake offers warm water temperatures during summer months, making it ideal for swimming and water recreation. Nearby attractions include Fort Donelson National Battlefield and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, which features more than 170,000 acres of public land with numerous historical and outdoor attractions just across the lake.
Directions
From Nashville take I-24 west to Cadiz, exit 65. Turn left onto Highway 68 for 8 miles to Highway 139. Turn left on Highway 139 and go 6 miles to Highway 164. Turn right on Highway 164 and the recreation area is 8 miles ahead.
