About
Linton Recreation Area sits on the shores of Lake Barkley in the wooded, rolling hills of southwestern Kentucky near the Tennessee border. This day-use facility is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and provides an excellent setting for family gatherings, reunions, and group outings. The centerpiece is an ADA-accessible group picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 100 guests and 50 vehicles. The recreation area also features a sandy designated swimming beach, playground, grills, and a boat ramp for lake access. Lake Barkley covers 57,900 acres with over 1,000 miles of shoreline, offering warm water temperatures ideal for summer recreation. Nearby attractions include Fort Donelson National Battlefield, where the Union Army won its first major Civil War victory, and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area just across the lake with over 170,000 acres of public land.
