About

Peninsula Campground is the largest campground in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area, positioned on a distinctive peninsula that extends into the high-elevation lake. The campground reopened in late summer after years of closure following the 2020 Lionshead Fire and subsequent winter storm damage. Fire recovery work continues in the area, and visitors should watch for hazards including burned trees, eroded slopes, and potential mudslides. The remote location requires preparation. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. Payment is cash or check only at the drop box, as credit and debit cards are not accepted. The rough forest roads leading to Olallie Lake mean visitors should arrive with a full tank of gas, as there are no services in the area. Olallie Lake itself is a scenic high-mountain lake ideal for fishing and non-motorized boating. The lake partially borders the Warm Springs Reservation. The campground's peninsula location provides excellent water access from multiple sites.

Turn south and continue 5 miles past Olallie Lake Resort to Peninsula Campground. Roads are closed in winter.
