About

Horseshoe Lake Campground is nestled along the shoreline of Horseshoe Lake in the Olallie Scenic Area of Mount Hood National Forest. The lake is horseshoe-shaped with a small channel connecting to its southern half. Despite being located just off Forest Road 4220, the area's remote nature means few vehicles pass by, providing a peaceful outdoor experience. The campground suffered extensive damage from the 2020 Lionshead Fire that swept through the area, compounded by subsequent winter storm blowdown that toppled burned trees. As a result, the campground has remained closed for years and no reopening date has been announced. When operational, the campground offers fishing in the lake, hiking access to the surrounding scenic area, and non-motorized boating. The area prohibits mechanized vehicles including mountain bikes and game carts due to wilderness regulations. There is no potable water available, so campers must bring their own supply.
