About

Olallie Meadow Campground is a small, rustic campground nestled on the north side of Olallie Butte at over 4,800 feet elevation in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area. This remote campground features just 7 sites scattered along an old dirt road through a 100-acre meadow that was once home to a Forest Service ranger station. The historic Olallie Meadows Cabin, built in 1910, still stands near the campground and adds to the area's character. The campground provides wonderful solitude in a somewhat rustic environment with incredible views of Mt. Jefferson and the surrounding peaks. Basic amenities include vault toilets and picnic tables, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. The remote location offers access to hiking, fishing at nearby Olallie Lake, and non-motorized boating opportunities. Access requires driving approximately 45 miles south from Estacada on Highway 224/Forest Road 46, then navigating a combination of paved and gravel forest roads. The roads close in winter due to snow, making this a seasonal destination. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.

Directions

From Estacada, drive south on Highway 224 for 45 miles. The road becomes Forest Service Road 46. Turn east onto Forest Service Road 4690 and drive 6 miles on pavement, then about 3 miles on gravel to the junction with Forest Road 4220. Turn south and continue just over 1 mile to Olallie Meadow Campground.
