Delta Heritage Trail State Park Campground is situated at the Barton trailhead near the northern end of the Delta Heritage Trail, a rails-to-trails conversion project. The campground offers five primitive walk-in campsites located near the park's visitor center. Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table, and standing grill. A community water spigot serves all campsites, and 24-hour access flush toilets are available nearby, though showers are not provided. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the Delta Heritage Trail, which currently spans nearly 70 miles of completed trail segments winding through the remote and scenic Arkansas Delta landscape. The trail passes through forests, alongside agricultural fields, and across numerous bridges, offering exceptional opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. The visitor center at Barton provides bike rentals, a gift shop, and interpretive programming, including the popular Pedal & Paddle Tour. Camping is available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis at $15 per night for Class D primitive sites. The visitor center operates daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during peak season (March-November) and has reduced hours during off-peak season (December-February), closing on major holidays. The trail itself is open year-round from sunrise to one hour after sunset.
