About

Peebles Island State Park occupies a 190-acre island at the dramatic confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers near Cohoes, New York. The park is day-use only with no overnight camping facilities. Hours are sunrise to sunset year-round, with earlier 6:00 a.m. openings during striped bass season. The park offers miles of paved walking and jogging paths through gently rolling, wooded terrain with spectacular views of river rapids. Activities include fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The island contains historical Revolutionary War-era breastworks and serves as headquarters for the Bureau of Historic Sites and State Historic Preservation Office. The only reservable facility is the Riverside Pavilion, available mid-May through mid-October for day events accommodating up to 100 people at $150. Bicycles are prohibited on trails and hunting is not allowed. Dogs on leashes (6 feet maximum) are permitted in day-use areas.
