About

Grafton Lakes State Park occupies nearly 2,500 acres of forested terrain on the plateau between the Taconic and Hudson Valleys in Rensselaer County, New York. The park encompasses six ponds, with Long Pond as the centerpiece featuring a large sandy swimming beach. Visitors can enjoy over 25 miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails, fishing, and boat rentals during the summer season. The park is open year-round from 8am until sunset. Seasonal amenities include a swimming beach, food concession, boat rentals, and showers. The Welcome Center provides year-round restrooms and is open Wednesday through Monday from 9am to 4pm. Six pavilions and tent shelters are available for day-use group rentals from May through Columbus Day, accommodating 40 to 150 people. Important note: Grafton Lakes State Park does not have overnight camping or campsites. The park is strictly day-use. Visitors seeking camping in the area should look to nearby Cherry Plain State Park or other regional campgrounds.
