About

Palisades Creek Campground is a small, intimate campground tucked into Palisades Creek Canyon within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Located about 9 miles east of Swan Valley, Idaho, the campground sits at 5,900 feet elevation along the banks of Palisades Creek. The 7 sites (5 single-family and 2 double-family units) are first-come, first-served with no reservations available. The campground serves as the trailhead for the Palisades Creek Trail, which leads hikers and horseback riders into the Palisades Backcountry to the stunning Upper and Lower Palisades Lakes. All trails in this area are non-motorized; ATVs and motorcycles are prohibited in the campground. Fishing along Palisades Creek offers a peaceful experience, though note the creek is closed to fishing April 1 through June 30. Palisades Reservoir and the South Fork of the Snake River are just minutes away. During the staffed season (late May through early September), the campground provides potable water from faucets, vault toilets, and a full-time campground host. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. After the season closes, the campground remains accessible with no fee but also no water or toilet facilities. Roads and parking spurs are gravel.
