Blowout Campground & Boat Ramp
Open seasonally from late May through early September with fees ($17 single/$34 double). After the season closes, the campground remains open for free dispersed camping with no services (toilets locked, no water, no host).
About
Blowout Campground is located 58 miles southeast of Idaho Falls along US Highway 26 in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The campground occupies a partially shaded hillside with aspens and tall lodgepole pines, while the Blowout Boat Ramp sits down the hill directly on Palisades Reservoir. The boat ramp is the second largest boating facility on the reservoir. The campground offers 11 single-family sites and 4 double-family sites, all first-come, first-served with no reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with gravel roads and parking spurs throughout. Vault toilets are available during the operating season, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Palisades Reservoir provides excellent fishing opportunities for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, and kokanee salmon. Both motorized and non-motorized boating are popular activities. Firewood is available for purchase at the campground.
