About
Blowout Campground is nestled near the shores of Palisades Reservoir, about 58 miles southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Situated within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest in the Palisades Ranger District, this campground rests at an elevation of 5,600 feet, accessible via U.S. Highway 26. Aspens and tall lodgepole pines tower over the campground, casting partial shade across its gentle slopes, with the shimmering Palisades Reservoir stretching out below.
The campground offers 11 single-family sites and 4 double-family sites, each equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. The layout makes it excellent for RVs and large boat trailers, with forested sites available on top of the hill and RV sites at the reservoir shoreline next to the boat ramp. The Blowout Boat Ramp provides direct access to the reservoir for boating, water skiing, and fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, and kokanee salmon. The nearby South Fork of the Snake River also offers excellent fishing opportunities for cutthroat, rainbow trout, and whitefish.
