About

Blowout Campground is located approximately 58 miles southeast of Idaho Falls on Highway 26, within the Palisades Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. At 5,600 feet elevation, the campground offers 15 sites: 11 single-family and 4 double-family units, all first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. The campground is well-suited for RVs and large boat trailers, with gravel roads and parking spurs throughout. Forested sites sit atop a gentle hill shaded by aspens and tall lodgepole pines, while RV-friendly sites are positioned near the reservoir shoreline adjacent to the boat ramp. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The Blowout Boat Ramp is the second-largest boating facility on Palisades Reservoir, making this an ideal base for motorized boating, water skiing, and fishing. Target species include Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, and kokanee salmon.
