About

Page Springs Campground offers 36 spacious sites nestled among cottonwood and juniper trees at the base of Steens Mountain in southeastern Oregon. Located just three miles from the historic town of Frenchglen, the campground borders the Donner und Blitzen River, a federally designated Wild and Scenic River known for its redband trout population. Fishing is catch-and-release only for rainbow trout, with a two-fish limit on redband trout (8-inch minimum) using artificial flies and lures only. The campground functions as the primary trailhead for two hiking routes: the Blitzen River Trail meanders four miles upriver into the Steens Mountain Wilderness, while the Wilderness Nature Trail makes a one-mile loop climbing to a bluff overlooking the valley floor. The area attracts fly fishers, birders, and hikers using Page Springs as a basecamp for exploring Steens Mountain's dramatic landscapes and the nearby Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Facilities include multiple vault restrooms with wheelchair accessibility, potable drinking water, trash receptacles, and a large covered picnic shelter available for day use at no charge. Sites are primitive with no hookups. A campground host is typically present from May through October. No equestrian use or stock trailers are permitted in the campground area.
