About

Page Springs Campground sits at the base of Steens Mountain, just 3 miles from the small town of Frenchglen in southeast Oregon. The campground features 36 spacious campsites situated under cottonwood and juniper trees near the Donner und Blitzen Wild and Scenic River. The campground serves as a favorite basecamp for hikers, fly fishers, bird watchers, and families exploring Steens Mountain or the nearby Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The campground provides two trailheads for short hikes: the Blitzen River Trail meanders 4 miles up the river offering excellent fly fishing opportunities for rainbow and Redband trout, while the Wilderness Nature Trail climbs gradually to the top of the bluff overlooking the valley floor in a 1-mile loop. A large covered picnic area is available for no-fee day use. The campground host is typically on-site from May through October. Campsites are available first-come, first-served with no reservations accepted. Visitors should be aware of ticks, mosquitoes, and rattlesnakes in the area. Equestrian use and stock trailers are not permitted. Fishing is catch and release only for rainbow trout, with a two-fish, 8-inch minimum length per day limit for Redband trout using artificial flies and lures only.
