About

Emigrant Campground is a peaceful, rarely used retreat nestled under towering ponderosa pines in the Malheur National Forest. With just 7 sites, this quiet campground provides an excellent escape for visitors seeking solitude and a connection with nature. The campground sits alongside Emigrant Creek, offering convenient opportunities for trout fishing right from camp. Beyond the campground itself, the area offers access to Snow Mountain and the historic Snow Mountain Fire Lookout, just a short drive away. The fire lookout area provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Malheur National Forest and the broader region, making it a worthwhile side trip for campers. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets and no potable water, so visitors should come prepared with their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and can accommodate camp trailers 20 feet and under in length. At $8 per night for a single site, it offers an affordable basecamp for exploring this less-traveled corner of eastern Oregon.
