About

East Kachess Group Campground is tucked away on the eastern shore of Kachess Lake in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Hemmed in by dense old-growth conifer forest and surrounded by high mountains, this secluded setting provides an ideal environment for groups and families seeking recreation and relaxation. The campground features one large group site capable of accommodating up to 100 people and 25 vehicles, equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and vault toilets. Kachess Lake, whose name means "plenty of fish," is a reservoir adjacent to the campground that stores and provides water for irrigation in south-central Washington. The lake offers excellent opportunities for fishing rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon from boat or shoreline. This is a prime base camp for hiking, fishing, swimming, and mountain biking in summer and early fall, with several trails a short drive away. Hikers can access portions of the spectacular Pacific Crest Trail, one of the world's premier National Scenic Trails. The area supports diverse wildlife including deer, porcupine, native fish, migratory birds, and provides habitat for endangered and threatened species such as the northern spotted owl and gray wolves. Water levels in Kachess Lake vary during the summer season.
