Overlook Day Use area is a scenic recreational facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake O' the Pines in the Piney Woods of northeast Texas. Located at the north end of the dam, the site features an impressive lookout point offering views of nearly 4 miles of the main body of the lake when weather conditions are favorable.
The area is ideal for large group gatherings and day outings, with an open field surrounded by tall pine trees and rolling hills characteristic of East Texas. From this vantage point, visitors can observe popular water activities on the main lake including skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. The location also provides access to areas suitable for kayaking, sailing, and fishing.
The day use area is conveniently located about 100 yards past Buckhorn Creek Campground on FM 726, approximately 10 miles from Jefferson, Texas. Nearby attractions include Lakeside Day Use area and Buckhorn Creek Campground, making it part of a larger network of recreational facilities at Lake O' the Pines.
Directions
Day Use Overlook is about 10 miles from Jefferson, TX. At the intersection of Highway 49 and 59, follow 49 west northwest for 4 miles to FM 729. Turn left onto FM 729 and go 3.5 miles to FM 726. Turn left on FM 726 and follow for 2.5 miles to the dam. Overlook Day Use will be on the right about 100 yards past Buckhorn Creek Campground.
