Alley Creek Campground is located on the banks of Lake O' the Pines, an 18,700-acre reservoir created by the Ferrell's Bridge Dam on Big Cypress Bayou in the Ark-La-Tex portion of the Pineywoods of east Texas. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides 67 sites suitable for both tent and RV camping, all equipped with water and electric hookups. The facility includes a boat ramp, swimming beach, playground, dump station, and day use areas, making it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Lake O' the Pines offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. Anglers can fish from boats or along the shore and below the dam on Big Cypress Bayou. Boating and water sports are popular summer activities. Birdwatchers can observe numerous resident and migratory species, with bald eagles commonly sighted during fall and winter months. Nearby public lands provide hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and small game. The campground is located 12 miles north of the historic town of Jefferson, which offers tourist attractions and access to the Texas Wildflower Trail routes. The lake spans five counties and serves as a recreational oasis in the region, originally constructed for flood control in the Red River Basin.

Directions

From Jefferson, travel 3.8 miles northwest on Highway 49. Turn left onto FM 729 and continue for 12 miles to the park entrance on the left.
