Brushy Creek Day Use
This is a day-use only area with no overnight camping. The reservable group pavilion and non-reservable picnic sites are open for daytime visits. Off-road vehicles are prohibited.
About
Brushy Creek Day Use Area occupies a scenic stretch of Lake O' the Pines shoreline in Marion County, Texas. The facility is designed for day visitors seeking lakeside recreation without overnight accommodations. A large covered group picnic shelter can be reserved through Recreation.gov and accommodates gatherings of up to 25 vehicles, with additional vehicles subject to a $5 fee. Scattered along the waterfront are 30 smaller picnic sites, each shaded and equipped with a table and grill. A two-lane boat ramp provides lake access, complemented by a courtesy dock. The swimming beach offers a designated area for water play, and a basketball court rounds out the amenities. Lake O' the Pines is popular for fishing, with largemouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish among the target species. Birdwatching is excellent, particularly for bald eagles in fall and winter. Hunters can access nearby public lands for white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and small game. For overnight stays, visitors should look to the separate Brushy Creek Campground nearby.
