Buckhorn Creek Campground is situated along the banks of Lake O' the Pines in the Ark-La-Tex portion of the Pineywoods of east Texas, where the borders of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana converge. The campground is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and provides access to the 18,700-acre reservoir created by Ferrell's Bridge Dam on Big Cypress Bayou. The campground features 57 RV sites with water and electric hookups (50-amp service available) and 38 non-electric tent sites. Tent sites include a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern pole. Each section of the park has restrooms with showers, and a dump station is available for RV waste disposal. A boat ramp and courtesy dock provide direct lake access, and a playground serves families with children. Lake O' the Pines offers excellent fishing for largemouth, spotted, and white bass, as well as crappie, catfish, and sunfish. Boating, water sports, and wildlife viewing are popular activities. Bald eagle sightings are common in fall and winter months. Nearby public lands provide hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and small game.

Directions

From Jefferson, TX, travel 3.8 miles northwest on Highway 49. Turn left onto FM 729 and continue for 3.5 miles, then turn left again onto FM 726. Travel 2.5 miles. The park entrance is on the right.
