About
West Branch State Park, formally opened in 1966, encompasses over 5,000 acres of land and a 2,650-acre reservoir along the west branch of the Mahoning River. The park offers reservable picnic shelters for day-use activities. The park features two main pavilions, each approximately 30' x 20' in size, holding eight picnic tables with charcoal grills located nearby. These shelters are positioned within 100 yards of restroom facilities and provide scenic lake views with direct fishing access to the Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir. The park's facilities include a 700-foot sand beach, boat launch ramps, and extensive trail systems including 14 miles of hiking trails, 20 miles of bridle trails, and 12 miles of mountain biking trails. Additional park amenities include fishing, boating, swimming, and seasonal hunting opportunities.
Directions
From Ravenna, Ohio, take State Route 5 east for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Esworthy Road and continue for about 1 mile to reach the park entrance.
