About
Cook Day Use Area is a lakeside recreation facility in the hills of middle Tennessee, located on J. Percy Priest Lake about 10 miles east of downtown Nashville. The area provides extensive day-use amenities including a large sandy swimming beach, two group picnic shelters that can accommodate 75 and 100 guests, and a playground for families. The Three Hickories Nature Trail offers a 1.6-mile loop through wooded areas for hiking and nature observation. The location provides access to J. Percy Priest Lake's 14,200 surface acres of water and 19,087 acres of surrounding grasslands and woodlands. Visitors enjoy fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, striped bass, and other species, as well as boating, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The facility is conveniently located near the Hermitage, President Andrew Jackson's historic home, and provides easy access to Nashville's cultural attractions. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping. A day-use fee is charged per vehicle. The area operates seasonally with facilities and reservations available during warmer months.
