Little Levels is a primitive bayside backcountry camping area located within Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland. This secluded site is accessible only by hiking or paddling and offers visitors a true wilderness camping experience along the bay side of the barrier island. The campsite is positioned to provide some protection from coastal winds by nearby dunes. Backcountry camping at Little Levels operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted due to changing weather conditions. Permits cost $10 per person over 16 years of age and can be obtained for up to 7 days at the Maryland District Ranger Station on the day of departure. All members of the camping party must be present to obtain a permit. Transportation of campers or equipment by motorized boat or vehicles is strictly prohibited. The site features vault toilets year-round but has no potable water, showers, or hookups. Campers must pack out all trash and may only collect dead and down wood for fires. Glass containers are prohibited. Firewood must be purchased locally and cannot be brought from out of state. Pets are not permitted at backcountry sites. The location offers opportunities to experience the island's distinctive landscape, observe wild horses from a distance, and enjoy solitude away from developed camping areas.

Accessible only by hiking or paddling. GPS systems may provide inaccurate directions. Permits must be obtained at the Maryland District Ranger Station before departure. All camping party members must be present to obtain permit. No motorized vehicle or boat transport allowed.
