Green Run is a bayside backcountry campsite located within Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland. This primitive camping area accommodates up to 25 people and is accessible only by backpacking or paddling (no motorized transport of equipment allowed). The site provides basic amenities including a picnic table, fire ring, and vault toilet, but no potable water is available. This remote bayside location offers a true wilderness experience on Assateague Island, known for its wild ponies, pristine beaches, and diverse coastal ecosystems. The site is positioned away from developed areas, providing solitude and opportunities to experience the island's natural environment. Campers must be self-sufficient and pack out all trash. Permits are required and issued on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 7 days per trip. Permits must be obtained on the day of departure at the Maryland District Ranger Station. The backcountry camping fee is $10 per person for visitors over 16 years of age, plus the park entrance fee. Only dead and down wood may be collected for fires, and firewood must be purchased locally (not transported from out of state). Pets and glass containers are prohibited at all backcountry sites.

Transportation of campers or equipment by motorized boat or vehicles is strictly prohibited; access is by backpacking or paddling only.
