About

Oaks Park Campground sits on the south shore of Oaks Park Reservoir at 7,800 feet elevation in the Ashley National Forest. The campground features 11 first-come, first-served campsites ideal for those seeking a quieter camping experience with lake access and OHV recreation opportunities. The area is open to off-highway vehicle use, with trails leading north from the lake into the surrounding forest. A pump handle well on the west shore provides water, though campers should come prepared with their own drinking water. A trail leads south from the campground to the Big Brush Creek Cave for those interested in exploring. The reservoir offers fishing opportunities, and the surrounding area provides access to the scenic eastern Uinta Mountains. The remote location accessed via Forest Road 018 makes this an excellent base camp for exploring the South Slope region of Ashley National Forest. The campground is accessible from Vernal by traveling 20 miles north on US 191, then 14 miles northwest on Forest Road 018. The road requires high-clearance vehicles and may be impassable during wet conditions or winter months when snow closes access.

Directions

From Vernal, Utah travel 20 miles north on US 191. Then go 14 miles northwest on Forest Road 018.
