About

Oak Park is a day-use recreation area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, situated just below the dam at Wright Patman Lake in Bowie County, Texas. The park is designed for group gatherings, picnics, and outdoor activities rather than overnight camping. Facilities include a reservable group pavilion with water and electric hookups, 25 first-come-first-served family picnic sites with tables and upright grills, a swing set playground, sand volleyball court, and baseball diamond. The park's namesake large oak trees provide a shaded, pleasant setting for visitors. A vault restroom is available on site. While Wright Patman Lake offers excellent fishing for bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish, as well as wildlife viewing opportunities, this particular facility does not provide overnight camping. Visitors seeking campgrounds should look to other USACE parks around the lake.

Directions

From Texarkana, take U.S. Highway 59 south for approximately 12 miles. Turn right at the sign for Wright Patman Lake. Follow the park road to the dam, turn left and proceed to the next intersection. Turn left again and follow the road to the park.
