Clear Springs

Open — Open year-round with reservations required. During recreation season (March 1 to October 31), stays are limited to 14 days with possible extensions up to 42 days in any 60-day period. Winter season (November 1 to February 29) allows extended stays up to 120 days. Campground gate is locked from 9 p.m. during March through September.

Clear Springs Campground is a premier recreation destination on Wright Patman Lake, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The campground offers 88 full-service campsites nestled within a southern pine forest along the lake's shoreline, with many sites positioned directly on the water's edge. The facility includes 41 sites with full hookups (water, electric, and sewer), 44 sites with water and electric hookups in various configurations including 50-amp service, 3 premium sites with special amenities, and 12 primitive tent sites. The campground features three restroom buildings with hot showers, a trailer dump station, and a blue boy dump station. Recreational amenities are extensive and include a designated swim beach, boat ramp with courtesy dock, fish cleaning station, volleyball and basketball courts, multiple playgrounds, and nature trails through the piney woods. Three screened shelters are available for rent, each equipped with ceiling fans, stainless steel tables, fire rings, grills, covered porches, water access, and electrical outlets. A group camping facility with a large screened shelter, restrooms, showers, and 12 campsites is also available. The park includes a day-use pavilion for gatherings. Wright Patman Lake encompasses 30,000 acres and is surrounded by 55,000 acres of public forestland managed by the Corps of Engineers. The lake is renowned for fishing, with abundant populations of largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, bobwhite quail, waterfowl, and seasonal migrations of bald eagles, pelicans, and ducks. The region's southern pine forest provides habitat and scenic beauty year-round.
