About

Atlanta State Park is a 1,475-acre retreat located on the shores of Wright Patman Lake in the far northeast corner of Texas. The park features towering pines and hardwoods that provide beautiful fall and spring colors as well as year-round shade. The 33,750-acre reservoir is known for excellent fishing, including catfish that can reach 75 pounds, and offers opportunities for boating, water-skiing, and swimming at a designated area. The park maintains 58 campsites across three camping areas: Knights Bluff, Wilkins Creek, and White Oak Ridge. All sites include water and electricity (30-amp or 50-amp), with 14 sites offering full hookups including sewer. The park offers both back-in and pull-through sites. Visitors can explore 4.8 miles of hiking trails, including a 0.8-mile nature trail, or bike along hilly park roads. Two boat ramps provide lake access. Amenities include a park store selling drinks, candy, shirts, and gifts, plus equipment rentals for canoes and kayaks. Visitors can also borrow basketballs, volleyballs, horseshoes, and fishing tackle. The park offers ranger programs on geocaching, birding, and Caddo Indians. An all-terrain wheelchair is available for use in the park. Note that this county is under quarantine to prevent the spread of emerald ash borer, so moving firewood is restricted.
