Atlanta State Park

Open

Open daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The water/electric campground will close September 1, 2026 through January 1, 2027 for a construction project. Ongoing park improvements through September 2026 are causing temporary campsite closures. The Birch Creek pavilions and fishing pier are currently closed. Reservations strongly recommended as the park often reaches capacity.

About

Atlanta State Park occupies a scenic peninsula on Wright Patman Lake in the piney woods of northeast Texas. The park's 58 campsites are distributed across three distinct camping areas. Knights Bluff offers elevated sites with lake views, Wilkins Creek features pull-through sites ideal for RVs, and White Oak Ridge provides a more secluded wooded setting. Every campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, tent pad, and lantern post, with water and electric hookups standard throughout. The park serves as an excellent base for water recreation on the 20,300-acre reservoir. Anglers target largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish, while boaters and water-skiers enjoy the open water. A park store offers basic supplies, snacks, and equipment rentals including canoes and kayaks. Trails wind through the mixed pine and hardwood forest, providing opportunities for hiking, birding, and nature study. Cass County is under an emerald ash borer quarantine, so campers must source firewood locally rather than bringing it from outside the area.
