About
Clear Creek Recreation Area is Bankhead National Forest's premier campground, situated on Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County, about 13 miles north of Jasper, Alabama. The campground features 102 RV sites across four paved loops, including 32 double sites and 11 pull-through sites. Every campsite has water and electrical hookups (both 30-amp and 50-amp service), a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. All sites are level with paved parking spurs. Four bathhouses with flush toilets and showers serve the campground loops. A trailer dump station is located within the recreation area. Trash must be packed out to dumpsters near the dump station. Two group tent camping areas accommodate up to 25 campers each and share a separate bathhouse. The day-use area includes a swimming beach with bathhouse, a year-round boat launch, and picnic pavilions. Lewis Smith Lake provides excellent fishing for spotted bass and hybrid striped bass, plus opportunities for boating and water sports. A 1.5-mile paved bicycle trail connects the campground to the day-use area, and the 2.5-mile paved Raven Cliffs hiking trail explores the surrounding forest.
