About
Oak Grove Campground sits at the heart of Sardis Lake's most popular recreation areas in North Mississippi. As the largest campground on the lake, it offers 81 paved campsites equipped with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Three restroom/shower buildings are distributed throughout the campground, and a playground provides family entertainment. The boat dock gives campers convenient access to both the upper and lower lakes.
Sardis Lake covers 98,000 acres of land and water in the rolling hills of the region, created when the dam was completed in 1940 as part of a flood control project on the Little Tallahatchie River. The lower lake recreation areas feature swim beaches, basketball and volleyball courts, picnic areas, and hiking trails. The lake is nationally recognized for crappie fishing and sees heavy use for boating, sailing, and water sports.
The campground is located approximately 10 miles from I-55 near the towns of Sardis and Batesville, with Oxford and the University of Mississippi about 30 minutes away. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, and campers are limited to 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period at USACE Vicksburg District campgrounds.
