About

Big Acres is a day use recreation area at Sardis Lake, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Located along Highway 315 at the base of Sardis Dam, the facility sits on the shore of the Lower Lake, a 400-acre body of water on the downstream side of the dam. Big Acres features two large group picnic shelters that can accommodate up to 150 people, available for reservation at $100 per day through Recreation.gov. Both shelters include electrical hookups. The area is popular for family gatherings, picnics, and outdoor play. A large playground and basketball courts provide recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages. Big Acres is conveniently located near other camping and day use facilities at Sardis Lake, approximately 8 miles from Interstate 55 in Sardis and 8.5 miles from Interstate 55 in Batesville. Note that this is a day use area only and does not offer overnight camping. The facility operates with specific check-in at 8:00 AM and check-out at 10:00 PM. Amplified music and inflatable bounce houses require prior approval from the Sardis Lake Field Office.
