About

New Glarus Woods State Park offers primitive camping in a peaceful 435-acre wooded setting just south of New Glarus. The Lead Road Circle campground provides 18 drive-in sites suitable for tents, pop-up campers, and small RVs under 25 feet. For those seeking more solitude, 14 walk-to tent sites are positioned 50 to 1,000 feet from the parking area along a paved trail, offering enhanced privacy in the woods. The campground also features six group tent sites for gatherings of up to 20 people, with both wooded and meadow options. Only two group sites permit wheeled campers. An ADA-accessible family campsite is available in the Lead Circle campground, and an accessible group site is located in the group camping area. Accessible restrooms serve the group camping area. This primitive campground has no hookups, dump station, or water fill station. The park provides direct access to the Sugar River State Trail, a 24-mile linear trail with compressed limestone surface popular for bicycling, hiking, and winter activities. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. Reservations can be made online through the Wisconsin State Parks system.
