About

New Glarus Woods State Park sits in the rolling hills of Green County, offering a peaceful retreat in southern Wisconsin's driftless area. The 435-acre park features small, primitive campgrounds divided between drive-in sites and walk-to tent sites, all set among wooded and meadow landscapes. Only sites #52 and the ADA-accessible site #53 permit two-wheeled campers such as pop-ups or small trailers. The park provides direct access to the Sugar River State Trail, a 24-mile compressed limestone path connecting New Glarus to Brodhead. This multi-use trail accommodates hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. The park itself offers additional hiking trails and opportunities for picnicking and winter snowshoeing. Campers should note this is a primitive facility with no dump station or fill station. Reservations are available through the Wisconsin DNR system up to 11 months in advance, with a two-night minimum from May 15 through October 31.
