About
Cox Hollow Campground sits within the 5,270-acre Governor Dodge State Park in the heart of Wisconsin's Driftless Area. The campground shares 269 standard campsites with neighboring Twin Valley Campground, with 80 electric sites available between the two areas. Sites are set among wooded, hilly terrain characteristic of the unglaciated region, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. The campground provides convenient access to Cox Hollow Lake, where the seasonal beach offers swimming and a concession stand with limited supplies and boat rentals from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Showers and drinking water are available from Memorial Day weekend through early October; outside this window, potable water can be obtained from the park office. The park features over 40 miles of hiking trails, including loops departing from the Cox Hollow beach area with views of both Cox Hollow and Twin Valley Lakes. Reservations are handled through Wisconsin's goingtocamp.com system and can be made same-day up to 11 months in advance. Governor Dodge is a popular destination given its proximity to both Madison and the scenic Driftless region, so advance booking is recommended for weekends and holidays.
