Wolf Den Run State Park, Maryland's first OHV-focused state park, sits on over 3,000 acres of former mining land reclaimed into rugged recreational terrain in Garrett County. The campground offers 10 primitive tent sites plus 2 glamping platform tents (10' x 12' canvas tents with queen beds). Sites are undeveloped with unstabilized pads, though each includes a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities are minimal: no running water, no bathhouse, and no showers, just porta-potties. Cell service is unreliable. The park's main draw is its extensive OHV trail system, but it also offers opportunities for hiking, hunting, and fishing. Driveways are not plowed in winter, so four-wheel drive may be necessary during snowy months. The campground accepts RVs and trailers up to 25 feet, though only one RV is permitted per site alongside a maximum of two camping units total. Reservations are required and can be made through parkreservations.maryland.gov or by calling 1-888-432-2267. Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. and check-out at noon. Maximum stay is 14 days. Quiet hours run from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and alcohol is prohibited throughout the park.

Directions

From Oakland, MD, take US-219 south, then turn onto MD-38 west toward Kitzmiller. The park entrance is located near Upperman Road.
