This is a day-use picnic shelter only. No overnight camping is available at this historic site. The site is open April through October (Wednesday through Sunday) and November through March (Friday through Sunday). Closed on major holidays.
About
Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site preserves the 1837 home of Nathan Boone, youngest son of legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone. The site features hiking trails, interpretive programs, and a picnic area with a reservable shelter. The shelter is strictly a day-use facility. No overnight camping is available at this historic site. The shelter measures 22' x 36' and accommodates up to 50 people. It includes six picnic tables, electricity, and two grills. Accessible restrooms with running water are located nearby, along with a drinking fountain. The shelter is located approximately one-quarter mile from the historic Boone home. Reservations can be made 30 days to 12 months in advance online, or by contacting the site directly for shorter-notice reservations. If not reserved, the shelter is available first-come, first-served during operating hours.
