My Old Kentucky Home State Park
The campground is closed for renovations. A $4 million improvement project is adding new electric and water lines, sewer connections, roadway upgrades, and a modern bathhouse. The renovation was originally estimated to be completed by late summer 2025, but no reopening date has been announced.
About
My Old Kentucky Home State Park preserves the historic Rowan Estate, the 19th-century mansion that inspired Stephen Foster's iconic song "My Old Kentucky Home, Good-Night!" The campground is located on 290 acres in Bardstown, Kentucky, placing campers in the heart of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail with easy access to numerous distilleries. The campground is currently undergoing a comprehensive $4 million renovation as part of Kentucky's statewide park improvement initiative. When complete, the facility will feature 39 full-service campsites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, including eight pull-through sites accommodating rigs from 30 to 60 feet. An additional 10 primitive non-electric tent sites will be available. A new modern bathhouse with showers and restrooms is being constructed. Beyond camping, the park offers an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, outdoor amphitheater hosting "The Stephen Foster Story" musical, guided mansion tours, gardens, playground, picnic shelters, and a gift shop.
