About

Murray Lake Campground provides a true rustic camping experience within Brighton Recreation Area, a 4,947-acre property in southeast Michigan. The campground features 25 sites spread through an oak forest, each with a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include two vault toilets and a hand pump providing potable water. There are no electrical hookups or modern amenities. The campground sits on Murray Lake, a small body of water perfect for paddling and fishing. Mountain biking and hiking trails run directly through the area, with trailhead access available from the campground. The wooded sites offer privacy and shade, making this a favorite rustic destination for campers in southern Michigan seeking a quieter alternative to the area's more developed campgrounds.

Directions

From US-23, take exit 55 for Spencer Road. Head west on Spencer Road, then turn south on Chilson Road. The park entrance is at 6360 Chilson Road in Howell. Follow signs within the recreation area to Murray Lake Campground.
