About

Brighton Horseman's Campground is an equestrian-only campground nestled within the 4,947-acre Brighton State Recreation Area in southeast Michigan. This rustic facility caters exclusively to RVers traveling with horses, offering 15 primitive campsites spacious enough to accommodate horse trailers. The campground is strategically located adjacent to a staging area, providing immediate access to 35 miles of equestrian trails that wind through oak forests, grassy fens, shrub marshes, and along scenic ridges overlooking Chenago Lake. The campground features essential amenities for equestrians, including two vault toilets, two manure compost pits, and running water access points at the top and bottom of the camp drive circle. Select sites (6, 9, 11, 13, and 17) are equipped with corrals. All sites are primitive without electrical hookups, though a communal electric water pump is available. The proximity to the trail system eliminates the need for trailering horses to and from the park, making it an ideal base camp for multi-day riding adventures. Brighton Recreation Area also offers the Brighton Recreation Area Riding Stables nearby for those who need horse rentals.
