About

Bruin Lake Campground sits within the 11,000-acre Pinckney State Recreation Area in southeastern Michigan's Irish Hills region. The modern campground offers 186 sites arranged across multiple loops, with the lower loop featuring mostly paved sites with 30 and 50-amp electric hookups while upper sites remain on grass and dirt surfaces. Two recently renovated bathhouses provide flush toilets and hot showers. The campground's main draw is Bruin Lake itself, which connects to a chain of seven lakes accessible by small watercraft. A public boat launch and dock are on-site, and a designated swimming beach provides waterfront recreation. The surrounding recreation area features over 40 miles of trails popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians, including portions of the Potawatomi and Waterloo-Pinckney trails. Families will find a large playground, paved paths for biking and scootering, and a volleyball court. An ADA-accessible cabin and a yurt with modern bathroom access are also available within the campground for those seeking alternatives to tent or RV camping.
