Situated within Itasca State Park in northern Minnesota, this campground is part of the state's oldest and most beloved park, established in 1891. The park encompasses over 32,000 acres of pristine wilderness, including more than 100 lakes and some of the finest remaining old-growth pine forests in Minnesota. Campers can walk across the mighty Mississippi River at its source and explore miles of scenic trails through towering pines. Itasca State Park offers exceptional four-season recreation. During warmer months, visitors enjoy hiking, biking on paved trails, swimming, fishing, and paddling. Winter transforms the park into a snowy wonderland with groomed cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing opportunities, and ice fishing on Lake Itasca. The park's Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center and Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center provide educational exhibits and seasonal programs. The park's camping facilities cater to various preferences, from drive-in sites with electrical hookups to primitive backpack sites for those seeking solitude.
