Heavy rainfall continues across west-central, southwest, and south-central Minnesota. Slow moving thunderstorms are forecast to generate widespread rainfall amounts of two to four inches, while more localized amounts of greater than 6 inches are likely within the band of heaviest rainfall. Flash flooding is possible where these higher-end amounts occur, especially in low-lying areas & areas of steeper terrain near near creeks and streams. Street & urban flooding is also likely where heavy rainfall occurs over towns & cities. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Minnesota, including the following counties, Blue Earth, Faribault, Freeborn, Martin, Steele, Waseca and Watonwan. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Rice Lake State Park Group Campground offers a rustic overnight experience for organized groups seeking to camp together in southern Minnesota. The site accommodates up to 60 campers and is classified as walk-in, requiring a short trek of less than 60 yards from the parking area. The setting features tall hardwoods characteristic of this region, providing shade and scenic surroundings. Amenities are intentionally primitive: multiple picnic tables for group meals, a communal fire ring with grill for cooking, and a vault toilet. Water is available, but modern restroom and shower facilities are not provided at the group camp. Campers should come prepared for backcountry-style camping while still having vehicular access nearby. The park itself offers additional recreational opportunities including nearly five miles of trails, canoe-in campsites on the south side of Rice Lake for those seeking even more seclusion, and winter activities such as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The adjacent main campground loops (A and B) have shower facilities available to registered campers.

From Owatonna, take Interstate 35 south to Exit 32 (County Road 19). Head east on County Road 19 approximately 7 miles to the park entrance.
