The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from noon to 7 PM CDT Saturday. * AFFECTED AREA...Portions of central, east central, south central, southeast, and west central Minnesota. * TIMING...From noon to 7 PM CDT Saturday. * WINDS...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Around 17 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Wild River Equestrian Campground is located within Wild River State Park along 18 miles of the beautiful St. Croix River in Chisago County. This rustic campground features 20 campsites specifically designed to accommodate horses and horse trailers, with 15 sites offering electrical hookups. The campground serves as a base for exploring over 20 miles of horse-friendly trails that wind through diverse terrain including prairie grasslands, forests, and scenic overlooks of the St. Croix River. The trails range from easy routes suitable for novice riders to more challenging paths for experienced equestrians. Notable destinations include the River Trail with views of Nevers Dam and historical displays. The campground provides basic amenities including pit toilets and trash service, but does not offer showers. Campers should note that drinking water availability may be limited, particularly at remote locations within the park. Wild River State Park is a year-round destination offering additional activities such as hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, though the equestrian campground and horse trails operate seasonally. The park's natural resources include abundant wildlife viewing opportunities with eagles, woodcock, ruffed grouse, bluebirds, beaver, and otter commonly spotted throughout the area.
Directions
From I-35, take exit 147 for MN-95 toward North Branch. Head east on MN-95 for approximately 15 miles. Turn left onto Park Trail and continue for about 3 miles to reach the park entrance. Follow signs to the Equestrian Campground.
