About

Mount Ascutney State Park Campground sits at the base of Mount Ascutney, a 3,150-foot monadnock that rises dramatically from the Connecticut River Valley in Windsor, Vermont. The campground is arranged in two wooded loops containing 19 tent-only sites, 19 tent/RV sites, and 10 lean-tos that sleep up to eight people. Five rustic cabins with bunks, electricity, tables, and outdoor fire pits are also available for rent, with three being pet-friendly. The campground provides flush toilets, coin-operated hot showers, and drinking water throughout the park. An RV dump station is available, though no hookups are provided at individual sites. Every site includes a fire ring and picnic table. A recreation field with a volleyball net and horseshoe pit connects to several sites via walking paths, and a picnic pavilion can accommodate group gatherings. The park's main draw is access to Mount Ascutney's summit via the 3.8-mile Mountain Road or multiple hiking trails totaling over 12 miles. The observation tower at the summit offers panoramic views of the Green Mountains, White Mountains, and the Connecticut River Valley. Mountain biking trails and hang gliding launches from the summit provide additional recreation options.
