About
Thistle Hill Shelter is a traditional three-sided Appalachian Trail shelter situated in the Green Mountain National Forest near Pomfret, Vermont. The shelter provides basic protection from the elements with a roof and raised wooden sleeping platform, facing east toward the White River valley with views of sunrise. This primitive backcountry site is maintained for thru-hikers and backpackers traveling the Appalachian Trail. The shelter operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system or fees required. Water must be treated or filtered from nearby natural sources.
