About
Godman Campground sits at the edge of the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness in Washington's Blue Mountains, serving dual purpose as both a primitive campground and trailhead. The West Butte Trail #3138 departs from here, leading into nearly 180,000 acres of rugged basaltic ridges, steep canyons, and abundant wildlife habitat. Hunters, anglers, and backcountry horseback riders favor this location for its direct wilderness access. The campground is minimally developed with one vault toilet and picnic tables. There is no potable water, so campers must pack in all drinking water. No fee is charged. The nearby Godman Guard Station, a historic 1930s ranger cabin, is available as a separate rental through Recreation.gov. Vehicle access to Godman is weather-dependent and typically runs from mid-June through mid-October, though the official season extends May through November. The final approach involves Forest Service roads that may remain snow-covered into early summer. Stock users should note that weed-free feed is required, and the wilderness trails are closed to all motorized and mechanized equipment including mountain bikes.
