About

Godman Guard Station is a historic cabin rental perched at 5,600 feet elevation at the gateway to the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness in the Umatilla National Forest. Built in the 1930s as part of an administrative complex, this two-story wood frame structure offers rustic accommodations for up to 8 guests. The cabin features two bedrooms with bunk beds and single beds, a living area with chairs and couch, and a kitchen equipped with a propane stove and refrigerator. Propane lights and heat are provided throughout. The site includes a vault toilet near the cabin, an outdoor fire ring, and a picnic table. There is no potable water on site; visitors must bring all water for drinking, cooking, and washing. Horses are permitted at hitching rails near the barn approximately 200 yards uphill, but not near the cabin itself. The cabin operates on a pack-in/pack-out basis with no trash service. The surrounding Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness encompasses nearly 180,000 acres of rugged basaltic ridges, steep canyons, and rushing rivers. Wildlife viewing opportunities include Rocky Mountain elk, bighorn sheep, deer, black bears, and cougars. The Godman Trailhead provides direct access to wilderness trails for hiking and horseback riding. In winter, the area is popular for snowmobiling on groomed trails, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
