About
Located 25 minutes south of Paisley, Oregon, Jones Crossing is a rustic and popular forest camp situated directly on the free-flowing Chewaucan River. The campground features eight spacious campsites scattered among juniper and ponderosa pines that provide shade. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire grate. One vault toilet services the campground, and there is no potable water available, so visitors must pack their own water supply. The Chewaucan River offers excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. Wildlife enthusiasts may observe or hear woodpeckers and songbirds throughout this peaceful campground. The nearby Chewaucan Crossing provides access to the Fremont National Recreation Trail #160, a multi-use trail offering hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking pursuits. This lightly used campground operates year-round, with full services from mid-May through mid-October and reduced services during the winter months. No fees are required. Visitors must keep vehicles at least 100 feet from the river's edge to protect the riparian environment.
Directions
From Paisley, take Oregon Highway 31 north toward Silver Lake. Turn left on County Highway 2-08 (Mill Street), and continue left on Forest Service Road 33. Campground will be on the left, approximately 25 minutes from Paisley.
