About
Morse Creek Campground is a remote, primitive camping area nestled along Morse Creek in the Pahsimeroi region of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The campground features just three campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, providing a quiet escape for those seeking solitude in Idaho's backcountry. The setting offers opportunities for trout fishing in Morse Creek and serves as a trailhead for the Patterson-Morse Creek Trail, which is open to hiking, horseback riding, and limited ATV/motorcycle use on the first mile. This is a true primitive camping experience with minimal amenities. A vault toilet is provided, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. There is no trash service, so visitors must pack out everything they bring in. The campground is accessed via Forest Road 40094 (Morse Creek Road), approximately 7 miles from the Pahsimeroi River Road turnoff. The remote location and basic facilities make this an ideal destination for experienced campers looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Lemhi County backcountry.
Directions
From Challis, Idaho travel approximately 17 miles north on Highway 93 to Ellis. Turn right onto Pahsimeroi River Road and travel approximately 10 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 40094 (Morse Creek Road). Campground is at the end of this road, approximately 7 miles.
