Moraine State Park
Open — Open year-round with cabins and organized group tenting areas available for reservation. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and must be made at least 3 days ahead of arrival.
About
Moraine State Park encompasses 16,725 acres of gently rolling hills, forests, and the 3,225-acre Lake Arthur in northwestern Pennsylvania. While traditional camping is prohibited within the park, overnight accommodations include 11 modern cabins available year-round that feature two bedrooms, full bathrooms with showers, kitchens, dining/living areas, and electric heat. During summer, cabin guests enjoy private docks on Lake Arthur. For organized groups, the park offers two rustic group tenting areas: Muskrat Cove (accommodating up to 40 people) and Five Points (up to 80 people). Both locations provide restrooms, picnic tables, cooking grills, and water, though no showers are available. Backpackers on the North Country National Scenic Trail can reserve the Link Road Overnight Shelter. The park serves as an outstanding example of environmental restoration, having recovered from extensive coal mining and oil drilling to become one of Pennsylvania's premier recreation destinations. Over one million visitors annually enjoy boating, hiking, biking, swimming, and fishing. Several private campgrounds border the park for those seeking traditional camping experiences with RV hookups and amenities.
