Shenango Lake Mahaney Outflow Riverview Picnic Shelter

This is a day-use facility only; overnight camping is not permitted. The Riverview Shelter is a covered group picnic shelter located at the Mahaney Outflow Recreation Area, adjacent to Shenango Dam in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. The shelter can accommodate 42-56 people depending on table configuration and includes electric service (20-amp maximum) with paid reservations. The facility offers flush toilets and drinking water at the adjacent restroom building, grills for cooking, a children's playground, and a small hiking trail. The Shenango Dam and river outflow are just a short walk from the shelter, providing opportunities to view the concrete gravity dam and fish the tailwaters for crappie, bass, walleye, catfish, and muskellunge. When not reserved, the shelter is available free on a first-come, first-served basis without electric service. All visitors must vacate by 9:00 p.m. Alcoholic beverages and confetti are prohibited. Driving off roadways to load/unload is not permitted.

Directions

Take Exit 4B off I-80 and follow Route 18 north for approximately 5 miles. Turn left at the stoplight onto Lamor Road (at Dollar General and D'Onofrio's Food Center). Continue straight for 2 miles as Lamor Road becomes South Walnut Street. Turn right onto East High Street and cross the one-lane steel bridge. At the Y intersection up the hill, veer right and make another right shortly after into the Mahaney Outflow Rec Area entrance.
